The rapid transition toward clean and renewable energy has become a national priority in Bangladesh as the country accelerates its efforts to reduce carbon emissions, strengthen energy security, and meet the renewable energy targets outlined in the Power System Master Plan 2016 and Renewable Energy Policy 2008. Solar energy, being one of the most reliable and scalable green energy sources, continues to gain prominence in national development programs.

To support this transition, Rural Power Company Ltd. (RPCL) has undertaken the establishment of a 100 MW Solar Power Plant in Jamalpur, aiming to diversify the national energy mix and reduce dependency on fossil fuels. RPCL partnered with the multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, D8 Consultants Limited (D8CL), to lead the infrastructure design, civil works layout, structural engineering, drainage, geotechnical assessment, and access road planning for the project.
“Contributing to Bangladesh’s renewable energy expansion is a matter of both responsibility and pride,” stated Engr. Jaher Wasim, SEng, CEO, MD, and Principal Engineer of D8CL. “Our team is committed to providing climate-resilient, cost-efficient, and future-ready design solutions that ensure long-term operational stability of this landmark solar project.”
The project involves comprehensive engineering services, including the design of inverter stations, battery storage zones, operation & maintenance buildings, transmission support structures, and plant-wide flood-resilient layout planning—an essential factor given Jamalpur’s hydrological conditions. D8CL is also integrating modern digital design tools to optimize site planning and improve overall project efficiency.
RPCL officials expressed strong confidence in D8CL’s capability to combine technical excellence with innovative design. The collaboration represents a significant step in supporting Bangladesh’s commitment to achieving 40% clean energy by 2041 and building sustainable infrastructure aligned with global best practices.
D8CL’s diverse portfolio of renewable and energy-sector projects underscores its position as a trusted engineering partner for transformative national development initiatives. The firm continues to apply its Future Ready framework—focused on decarbonization, resilience, digital innovation, and inclusive collaboration—to ensure that infrastructure solutions remain adaptable for decades to come.
